Where's your roots, and what keeps you busy?

My roots are Belgium, Coffee, Art, Music & Food. Music and drawing mostly keep me busy.

Tell me, where does your inspiration come from? Any strange or out-of-the-blue sources?

From people around me mostly, my aunt, my friends. I get a lot of inspiration from old books and old buildings, churches and mythology. The most out-of-the-blue would be Egyptian mythology as I grew up in Cairo and spent many weekends with my mom in the National Museum.

If you could snag a seat at the dinner table with any artist, alive or passed, who would it be, and what's the story behind that pick?

Earl Scruggs and I would spend the whole dinner asking for banjo tips & tricks

Picture this: if you could wave a magic wand and breathe life into one of your illustrations, which one would it be, and why does it hold that special spell?

Any illustration I did with dogs. I love dogs

Art often unveils surprises about ourselves. What's the most unexpected thing you've discovered about you through your craft?

If you compare my sketches to my final designs you will understand why every design I do is a surprise to me! Sometimes my sketch is good and it doesn’t need to much work but sometimes my sketch is way too abstract and I need to « fight » with my illustration for it to come to life. It can take a few days but it’s always a surprise at the end. Also I was surprised when I started making money with my drawings

Paint me a scene: what's your dreamy Sunday morning ?

Staying in bed until noon with my dog on my lap. Gobbling up an entire coffee pot and reading a good graphic novel of doomscrolling. Calling up some friends to meet at a diner afterwards.

Now, let's spice it up: Your go-to country album, favorite western movie, and best cocktail ?

Townes Van Zandt - Live at the old quarter houston - Bone Tomahawk - Bloody Mary
